Tonga Skills for Inclusive Economic Growth (Tonga Skills) Program concluded on the 30th September 2021.

Tonga Skills supported skills sector reform in Tonga with a key focus on skills development linked directly to inclusive economic growth. Tonga Skills have achieved significant milestones in the last 5 years including successful activities focusing on disability inclusion, trades training, handicraft manufacturing and TVET teacher training.

The Australian Government and the Tonga Skills team would like to thank everyone who has been involved in this journey over the past five years.

The Tonga Resource Platform (TRP) will be launching in late 2021 and will continue to provide continued support for skills development and skills sector reform in Tonga.

Tonga Skills for Inclusive Economic Growth (Tonga Skills) is a key investment of the Australian Government in Tonga and the latest in a succession of skills development initiatives funded through the Australian Aid Program. Tonga Skills is a five-year investment to support skills sector reform in Tonga with a key focus on skills development linked directly to inclusive economic growth.

The goal of Tonga Skills is equitable access to quality based and demand-driven skills development contributing to sustainable economic growth in Tonga.

Tonga Skills works closely with the Tonga Ministry of Education and Training (MET) and Tonga National Qualifications and Accreditation Board (TNQAB). The Program operates nationally with an office in Neiafu, Vava’u and Nuku’alofa.

 

The purpose of Tonga Skills is to facilitate inclusive economic growth, particularly in rural and outer island locations, through improved skills planning and coordination to:
