Tonga Skills is partnering with TAFE Queensland to strengthen the plumbing training program at the Tonga Institute of Science and Technology (TIST).
Support includes professional development for trainers, upgrading of teaching and learning resources, and purchase of new tools and equipment. The improvements will enable the program to align with the quality requirements of the Australian training package, which will create new pathways for employment and further training for trainees within the region.
The initiative has been led by Mr Nonga Soakai, the President of TATVET at the Ministry of Education and Training, in collaboration with Mr Talanoa Hafoka, the TIST Principal.
On 5th of June, his Excellency Andrew Ford, the Australian High Commissioner to Tonga will launch the commencement of the enhanced training program.
